Although Jonathan Karrant once performed “Aida” at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House as part of a cast headed by Luciano Pavarotti, you won’t hear any arias when this eclectic San Diego singer appears at downtown’s all-ages Anthology. Instead, the 27-year-old vocalist and his all-star local quartet will showcase songs from Karrant’s very promising new album, “On and On.” The 10-song disc features an array of jazz, blues and pop classics by artists as varied as Mose Allison, James Taylor, Horace Silver, The Beatles and former San Diegan Stephen Bishop. With his expressive voice and expertly modulated delivery, Karrant puts his stamp on each of them.
